I love gardening but it does come with its challenges and frustrations. Recently I transplanted a beautiful deep red geranium which I had lovingly nurtured from a cutting. I placed it against a white wall where it would have the maximum impact. Foolishly I had forgotten that during the winter months when the grass stops growing, the wallabies who frequent our garden go looking for tasty morsels like rosebuds and, a special favourite, geraniums. When I checked on the plant the next day it looked like it had been to a military barber and received a savage short back and sides! On days like this I down the trowel and fork and pick up my paint brushes instead. Painting flowers in watercolour is always enjoyable and at least the results don't get eaten! Here is one of my floral paintings which have sold recently at Shop 38: 'Poinsettia'. I have better luck painting them than growing them!
