Life in the countryside is endlessly entertaining. Right here in our own garden we can watch dramas unfold, dances performed, and concerts put on, all without the need to go to the theatre. At home we are always guaranteed a front row seat for the magpies' daily choral ensemble and a ringside seat when a tiny wren bravely fights his own reflection in the bedroom window. But one of our favourite spectator sports is watching the complicated love lives of blue wrens as Jenny teases Jack and the fluttering courtship game unfolds. This is what inspired a favourite painting of mine 'Playing Hard to Get' which sold recently at Shop 38, Kingaroy Art Gallery. I hope it brings joy to the new owner.
