The blog has been quiet for a while as we were away on holiday. It began well but then I caught a throat infection which made me sound like a cartoon character! It was hard to get taken seriously talking like that! I have always loved travel and I've always enjoyed holidays, but for the first time ever I was really glad to get home. There waiting for me was a phone message from Wondai Regional Art Gallery that really lifted my spirits - my watercolour portrait "Hope" had won a Highly Commended prize in the October 2017 Art Competition! As we had been away I hadn't managed to get to the opening of the exhibition and it was only yesterday that I got to see some of the other stunning entries in this competition which is sponsored by our local MP Deb Frecklington and the South Burnett Regional Council. I loved the judge's comment "A gentle and light touch captures the title of the work". I've always believed in the power of art to heal - both for the practitioner and for the viewer - and now here was proof that having ones' artwork recognized can really make you feel better too! Suddenly it didn't matter that I sounded like a cartoon!
