Lurking!

I was delighted to see that "Lurking", one of the watercolours in the Royal Queensland Art Society exhibition at Petrie Terrace this month had gone to a good home. It is a wonderful confirmation for an artist when someone is drawn to your work and wants to purchase it. It tells you that the emotion, atmosphere or concept you wanted to convey has been communicated successfully. I always hope that people who buy my work have as much enjoyment from it as I did painting it. Of course there are always mixed feelings about parting with favourite paintings - they are like old friends whose faces are so familiar and loved and it is often hard to say goodbye! But I still have the photograph and here it is: "Lurking", essence of cat!
